I think having complete information available before choosing an application is always beneficial. It becomes much easier to understand what each app includes when everything is explained clearly. Reading guides and FAQs can answer many questions that people usually discover only after installation. I also prefer resources where every application is described in the same format because comparisons take much less effort. Spending a few extra minutes reading often saves much more time later. That approach has worked well for me.
