I’d look for someone who takes the diagnostic side seriously rather than just prescribing based on the first few symptoms. Bipolar disorder can overlap with depression, ADHD, substance-related symptoms and other conditions, so a thorough history of mood episodes, family history, previous treatment and medications is useful.

Before booking, I’d ask how much of their practice involves bipolar disorder, how they distinguish it from similar conditions, what their approach is to medication monitoring, and how often they normally follow up when treatment is being adjusted. Those questions can tell you quite a bit about their experience.

Also, don’t feel pressured to commit after one appointment. A good fit should involve being able to ask questions, understand the reasoning behind the treatment plan, and feel that your concerns are actually being heard.

For another local treatment option, you can also look at https://lotuspsychiatryandwellness.com/tms-therapy-margate-fl/, although I’d first confirm that the treatment offered is appropriate for the specific bipolar symptoms being evaluated.
