ParticipantI’m hoping someone here has had a similar experience or can offer some advice.
I recently received a legal notice that appears to be from the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, specifically referencing the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach. The document seems to be related to an old debt, and I’m honestly a bit confused and concerned.
From what I’ve been reading online, it looks like this office can be involved in various legal matters, including civil disputes and debt collection lawsuits. The notice I got mentions something about a summons, and I’m worried that if I don’t respond correctly, it could lead to serious issues like wage garnishment or a bank levy.
I know I shouldn’t ignore court documents, but I’m not sure about my next steps. Has anyone else received a notice like this from the Harbor Justice Center? How did you handle it?
I understand I have the right to dispute the debt if I think it’s wrong, and I know debt collectors have to follow certain rules, but navigating this process feels overwhelming. I’m considering reaching out to a consumer rights attorney for help, but I wanted to check here first to see if anyone has any practical tips or can share what their experience was like.
Any guidance would be really appreciated. Thanks for reading.
