Just started college in Salt Lake City and I’m still getting settled on campus. First time being on my own and out from under my parents’ roof. I’ve always wanted to hit a rock festival, the kind they usually put on in bigger cities. Does Salt Lake City have anything like that going on?
Nothing on the scale of Lollapalooza or Ozzfest around here. There are some smaller shows with local bands, but I don’t really follow that scene, it’s not my thing. I’m more into the bigger events they put on in other states.
No idea what draws everyone to these things. Maybe to see a bunch of big names on one stage. But the sound is always rough, the crowds make it impossible to actually hear anything, and there’s nothing but mud and dust wherever you look. Smaller club shows are the move for the bands you actually care about, the sound is way cleaner and the musicians are right there in front of you, sometimes close enough to reach out and touch.
