I sold my grandfather’s ranch in Texas and walked away with a decent chunk of money. After he passed there was nobody to keep the place running, and it was never really my thing, so selling made sense. Now I want to use that money to buy a place in Dubai. Year round warmth, a proper modern city, the sea on your doorstep, it all just draws me in. So I’m thinking about putting the ranch money toward a penthouse over there. Where would you even start looking at prices for that kind of property?
Truth be told, I’d have sold the ranch and everything on it too. The amount of work it takes to keep a place like that running is no joke. But in Dubai I’d still go for a villa with some land, put in a pool, set up a proper outdoor area, all that. That’s just me though. A buddy of mine bought a villa by the water in Dubai through JamesEdition. Pretty sure they can help you out with penthouses too.
On one hand it makes sense to use a realtor to help you find property in another country. On the other hand, you could at least have a look at what’s out there on the market and get a sense of what things cost first. Then you can bring a realtor in to work through the ones that catch your eye and handle the actual purchase from there.
